BIO:

Mayu Warner grew up in Brigham City, Utah, received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in ceramics from Southern Utah University, and is currently based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She started doing ceramics in high school and decided to pursue it in college after realizing she didn’t enjoy her original degree path. Initially she was interested in wheel thrown functional forms but later she found passion in large abstract sculptural work. She creates both at the moment.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Mayu Warner is interested in humanity and its nuances and how her experiences relate to others. She expresses her ideas artistically with organic abstract sculptural forms. She finds beauty in the abstract forms and their ability to connect with people in their own personal ways. Without telling people what they should think or feel they can find their own meanings within her pieces. She also makes functional forms that are decorated with playful patterns and bright colors.
